Truth Will Ultimately Be Revealed

By Rev. Billy Kristanto · September 4, 2025

“There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.” – Jesus Christ (Luke 12:2)

These words of Jesus offer deep comfort to those who walk in truth and integrity—but they are also a solemn warning to those who live in hypocrisy. In the Gospel of Luke, this statement is given specifically in the context of confronting the sin of hypocrisy (Luke 12:1).

Who are the hypocrites Jesus speaks of?
They are those who do not fear God. Instead of living with reverence before the Lord, they are more concerned with managing appearances and impressing others. Beneath the surface, however, their hearts are filled with deceit and corruption. They live as though God does not see, or worse—as if God does not exist at all.

Contrast this with the prostitutes and tax collectors mentioned throughout the Gospels. These individuals were also sinners, yet they were touched by God’s love and responded with repentance. They did not hide their wrongdoing; they knew they were rejected by society. Meanwhile, the hypocritical Pharisees cloaked their sins under a veil of false piety, deceiving many with their outward righteousness.

Of course, this does not mean that the first group was forgiven simply because they were open about their sins. They were forgiven because God gave them the opportunity to repent—and they took it. Blessed are those who still hear the call to repentance and respond with genuine faith.

Jesus strongly warned His disciples to beware of the false religiosity of the Pharisees. Those who are not discerning may be easily misled by the superficial ‘goodness’ displayed by such hypocrites.

These individuals may claim to uphold traditional faith, national values, and cultural heritage, but in reality, they live in fear—not the fear of God, but fear that their sins will be exposed. Often, they fear being found out by people more than by God.

Let us not think we are immune to this danger. You and I are just as vulnerable to hypocrisy. Let us not attempt to deceive God by impressing people with our outward religiosity—our so-called righteousness is like filthy rags before Him (Isaiah 64:6). In the end, we must all stand before the judgment seat of God.

”But who can endure the day of His coming?” (Malachi 3:2)
Blessed are those who turn away from their sins and are forgiven by God. Even those who are forgiven will one day stand before God’s throne. There, the Lord will bring to light what is hidden and reveal the motives of every heart.

And yet—astonishingly—Paul writes: “At that time each will receive their praise from God” (1 Corinthians 4:5). Praise that we do not deserve, but which God freely gives in Christ.
